Yasmin Angoe McClinton

Developmental Editor

Yasmin resides in South Carolina and has a master’s in Literacy and Education. She’s worked as an English teacher for 6-12th grades and an instructional coach for teachers for nearly twenty years. One of Yasmin’s favorite authors is Walter Dean Myers, whose books connected with the students who disliked reading because of the lack of representation in what they were reading. Myers’s prolific words that books are windows into many worlds and that “books were about rendering the invisible visible” guide Yasmin’s mission to assist authors in finding their voice through their writing.

Yasmin is thrilled to join Strive Publishing’s powerhouse team as a developmental editor to collaborate with authors in making their book dreams come true. She completed the Tessera Editorial’s BIPOC Editor-In-Training Mentorship Program and Sourcebooks Editorial Internship and became a developmental editor and sensitivity reader for traditionally and independently published authors of fiction and non-fiction. When Yasmin’s not writing, editing, or wrangling her family into order, you can find her binge-watching TV.

Her experience puts Yasmin in a unique position of understanding both sides of the publishing coin, especially for authors of color whose works are still so desperately needed. As Walter Dean Myers also said, “There is work to be done.”  And Yasmin continues that work with the Strive Family.
